I love fall! Its my absolute FAVORITE time of year. I love the colors, the flavors, the smells...I love everything about fall!
I also love Portland! This darling river city. Not too big....not too small. We have our own vibe and I like it!
Yes, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and a lot of the fall festivities may not be the best idea...but there are still a handful of AMAZING things to around here, even in this crazy year 2020!
FALL COLORS
First of all....Portland is blessed to have all 4 seasons. But like I said, fall is my fav! The colors are extraordinary! Check out some of these iconic places to take in the beauty of it all!
- Pittock Mansion- A historic site situated in the West Hills of Portland. Panoramic views and breathtaking grounds!
- Cathedral Park- Located in the historic St. Johns neighborhood and situated under the St. Johns Bridge and shores to the Willamette River. This park is the site of many photo shoots, but this is also a must stop for spectacular fall color.
- Sauvies Island- The largest island on the Columbia River, this rural farm haven has so much to offer year round. But it's a fall festivity favorite here in Portland. From the pumpkin patch to the beaches....This little island will not disappoint.
FALL HIKES
Yes, it rains a bit here....but fall usually has some great weather. A little sun, tons of amazing colors and a tolerable temperature to take a nice hike in!
- Warrior Point- Located on Sauvies Island. This 3 miles hike winds through the wildlife area of the island and ends at Warrior Rock Light, Oregon's smallest lighthouse. Watch for the migrating Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese this time of year!
- Banks-Vernonia State Trail- About 100 years ago an impressive rail road curved the hills or Portland. Today, 21 miles of the no longer used railroad has been transformed into this unique and scenic collection of hiking trails. 6 trailheads in total, all lined with spectacular fall color!
- Powell Butte Nature Park-Located in the city, this hike is super kid friendly and offers STUNNING views of Mt. Hood. Several trails to chose from on this extinct volcano!
Get out there and see for yourself. As the season changes the colors deepen and it's a spectacular sight to see!
